Hello

I'm Erika J. Gibson

Author, consultant, and owner of Black Diamond Publishing. As an advocate for children and quality, early childhood education, I noticed a lack of diversity in educational resources and print materials.

To directly address the under-representation of children of color in books, I started my own publishing company, Black Diamond Books, to pursue my goal of becoming a self-published, children's book author.  I also founded Black Diamond Publishing, an agency to help aspiring authors publish diverse books of their own.

My books feature black and brown characters to empower, inspire, encourage, educate, and instill hope in all children and can be enjoyed by any reader. As an author, it is important to that my books represent diversity and inclusion, where children can see themselves in the characters.

I am a native of Little Rock, Arkansas but currently reside in Northern Virginia. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and a Master of Education degree in School Psychology from Howard University.

I am also the owner of Leading Leaders Early Childhood Consulting, where I coach, consult, and train early care educators and programs to ensure quality and equitable care for children.
